    Workshop Proposals

    Please see below for instructions on how to submit a workshop proposal.




    Submission Guidelines

    Workshop organizers are invited to submit a proposal consisting of a single PDF file, with no more than five pages in length. The proposal must include the following information:

    • Workshop title
    • A brief summary and justification for the workshop, including anticipated benefits to the SIGGRAPH community
    • Duration of the workshop (full day or half day)
    • Expected number of submissions and acceptance rate
    • Preliminary list of invited speakers (if any)
    • Expected number of attendees
    • Program chair(s), with contact information (address, email and phone).
    • The primary workshop organizer, who will serve as the main point of contact with the SIGGRAPH Asia Workshops Chair, should be identified.
    • A one-paragraph biographical sketch for each organizer, describing relevant qualifications, including research and conference/workshop organizing experience
    • Tentative program committee
    • A one-page draft “Call for Workshop Papers”, including the description of selection criteria, page length requirement, (tentative) important dates, (anticipated) submission channel/tool, and the scope/topics covered by the worksho
    • A list of any previous versions of the workshop and/or any closely related events


    To submit a proposal for a workshop, please contact us via email with the subject “SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 Workshop Proposal”. All proposals undergo a review process. We will not accept any workshop proposals that focus only on a specific product or company.


    Important Deadlines

    All deadlines are 23:59 UTC/GMT.

    • Workshop proposals due: 28 April 2014
    • Notification of acceptance: 8 May 2014


    The following deadlines will apply to accepted workshops.

    • CFP and local website for each workshop: Before 10 May 2014
    • Workshop papers submission due: Before 10 July 2014
    • Workshop papers acceptance notifications: Before 20 August 2014
    • One author of each accepted workshop paper is to register for Full Conference Pass: 15 September 2014
    • Paper camera ready due: Before mid-September 2014



    Responsibilities of Workshop Organizers

    • Publicize their workshop
      • Workshop organizers are asked to set up and maintain locally a web page in which they provide further and updated information about their workshop. The local page of the workshop will be reachable from the official SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 workshop site.
      • Workshop organizers will be expected to call for papers/participations, e.g., through announcements on relevant mailing lists and using social media.
    • Workshop organizers should prepare a 250-word Call for Participation suitable for publication on the SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 website.
    • Workshop organizers should state clearly in their Call for Workshop Papers that all workshop research papers must be original, unpublished work, written and presented in English. Organizers can also, optionally, call for case study or position papers. All submissions must be prepared according to the ACM SIGGRAPH publication guidelines.
    • Workshop organizers are required to form technical program committees, gather submissions, conduct the reviewing process and decide upon the final workshop program.
    • Workshop organizers will be required to administer their own online papers submission tool. Tools such as EasyChair or the Microsoft's Conference Management Toolkit are permitted.
    • In order to ensure the quality of workshop proceedings, paper submissions must undergo a peer-review process.
    • Workshop organizers must strictly follow the important dates in order for the workshops to be synchronized with preparations for the main conference.
    • Workshop organizers should make sure there are sufficient peer-reviewed presentations to be included in the program. Otherwise SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 reserves the right to cancel the workshop.



    At least one workshop organizer is required to register for SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 (full conference pass), and attend the workshop they are organizing.


    At least one author of each accepted workshop paper is to register for SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 (full conference pass) by or before 15 October 2014, and give a presentation at the workshop.


    Support from SIGGRAPH Asia 2014

    • Accepted workshops will be publicized on the SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 website.
    • SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 will provide publication formatting guidelines, and registration.
    • The proceedings of each workshop will be included in the ACM Digital Library.
    • SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 will also provide the venue, and standard A/V equipment including a projector and a PC.


    Presenter and Contributor Recognition

    • To recognize the contribution of workshop organizers, the organizers can apply for a 100% discount for up to two organizers per each full-day workshop, and one organizer for half-day workshop. Each accepted workshop can apply for travel reimbursement of up to USD $1,000 per full-day workshop and up to USD $500 per half-day workshop. Only organizers whose permanent residence is outside of Shenzhen can apply for travel reimbursement.
    • To recognize the contribution of workshop paper presenters, the presenters can apply for a 25% discount per accepted paper submission.
